Sumerge, a long-established technology consulting firm in the Middle East, recently participated as a co-sponsor of the Data Streaming World Tour’s Cairo session, held in collaboration with Confluent.

The event brought together professionals and technology leaders from across the Middle East and Africa to examine the growing impact of real-time data streaming on enterprise architecture, with discussions focused on the role of real-time data streaming in modernizing enterprise architectures and the practical applications of event-driven systems across sectors such as finance, telecom, and government.

One of the event’s featured presentations, led by Sumerge Solutions Engineer Khalid Kahar, addressed the process of replacing legacy ETL systems in banking environments. The session, titled "Modernizing 20-Year-Old ETLs to a Modern Data Pipeline in Banking," outlined how financial institutions are adopting streaming technologies to improve data accessibility, reduce latency, and support faster decision-making.

Commenting on the broader significance of real-time data adoption, Sumerge Chief Commercial Officer Hassan El Sinbawy noted, “Real-time data is transforming the way organizations operate. By embracing streaming architectures, businesses are not just modernizing legacy systems — they’re unlocking new strategic value, driving in novation, and gaining the agility needed to thrive in today’s dynamic markets.

Several case studies presented throughout the event highlighted results from organizations in the finance, telecom, and public sectors, including improvements in operational efficiency, enhanced responsiveness to data changes, and greater system scalability. The discussions emphasized that the adoption of streaming technologies is increasingly seen as necessary for maintaining competitiveness in data-driven sectors.

The event also featured panel discussions and technical sessions, with topics including keynotes, detailed customer case studies, and sessions aimed at providing practical insights into developing and scaling real-time data platforms.

Sumerge’s active involvement underscored its ongoing role in supporting organizations throughout the region in modernizing data integration approaches.
