The African Export Import Bank (Afreximbank ) headquartered in Cairo has signed a new project with Sumerge to launch a solution that will help them combat money laundering and terrorism as well as fight challenges such as the wasted opportunities of non-African institutions for investing in Africa, African entities not inter-trading across the continent, and inability to promote trade within the African countries. Sumerge will be using IBM Web Portal, IBM Web Content Manager (WCM), IBM FileNet, IBM Cognos Reporting Tool and Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies to execute the project which will be divided into 4 main solutions (Customer Due Diligence Platform, Enterprise Content Management, Business Process Automation (Workflow) and Reporting Tool).

The African Export Import Bank (Afreximbank ) was established in Abuja, Nigeria in October, 1993 for the purpose of financing, promoting and expanding intra-African and extra-African trade. Afreximbank is aiming to become the Trade Finance Bank for Africa and has an authorized capital of US$ 5 Billion. The bank is headquartered in Cairo, the capital of the Arab Republic of Egypt and has branch offices in Harare, Abuja, Abidjan and Nairobi. The bank’s mission is to stimulate a consistent expansion, diversification and development of African trade while operating as a first class, profit-oriented, socially responsible financial institution and a center of excellence in African trade matters.
